Welcome to the Morning Star Children's Charity website
Morning Star Children's Charity is a UK Registered Charity which was started in 1990 by Harold and Barbara Blake following their service in Nepal with the Baptist Missionary Society. The charity started a programme for the welfare of destitute, homeless and helpless children in Nepal and runs a children's home in Kathmandu, Nepal called Morning Star Children's Home.
Today the home provides a loving, caring and Christian family home for 48 children which were ether abandoned by their parents, or orphaned through sickness or the long running Mouist war in Nepal.
The children living in the home are provided with food, shelter, clothes, medical care and education. The house parents are Bishnu and Muna Parajul, run the home and give the necessary love and care to help the children overcome their physical and mental traunas of their previous lives.
From the very beginning our mission has been for the children to grow up knowing the love of God and Jesus Christ and for the children to be truly joined together in Christian love.
We invite you to be a part in our vision. Morning Star Children's Chairy needs your prayer and financial support. Come and be blessed by sharing your love with these destitute children. To support one child for one month costs as little as £20. It is a small price to pay for a child’s future, their needs are great. Please help us now with what you can afford.
Dear sponsors and friends of Morning Star
Christmas is upon us here in the UK as we celebrate Jesus Christ’s birth. In Nepal the children are excited too. Presents have be given out, cards have been exchanged, and decorations adorn the home. A few years ago a student from the UK went to spend Christmas with the children and took them an artificial Christmas tree, the likes of which they had not seen before. News From NepalMuch has happened in Nepal since the summer news letter. The children are very happy in school and are doing well. On Fridays after school the children come home and put on talent shows, with singing, dancing, drawing and telling jokes; they all have lots of fun taking part. Some of the boys belong to a local football club and, I’m told, they share the Gospel among these new friends. Every Saturday the youth of Morning Star belong to a Christian Youth group where they spend time in devotions, and growing in Christ. In July, Ujjwal, Deenesh, Ramji, and Suraj were Baptised in Gyaneshor church. In August, 13 young adults from Morning Star went to a nearby village with Nepalese Christian tracts to distribute. They gave out 1500 and prayed with people of the village. The Morning Star young people said they were very much blessed and happy doing this. With so many children in one home the children's health and well being is important, so regular Health checks are carried out, on teeth and eyes. Vaccinations are given, x- rays are taken and blood and urine are checked. |
School Life In the Autumn the children returned to school after the summer break with new uniforms, bags, shoes, new writing books and pencils. The older children can choose additional subjects to study such as Art, Maths,Accounts, Hotel Management, or a subject of their choice. The children have music lessons at the home too. As the children’s parents, Bishnu and Muna visit the school each month so that they get to know the teachers, as well as find out how the children are doing and if their are any problems. However, it’s not all work. When the children get home from school they can rest, play or do their homework before tea. Then it’s time for some TV or devotions, Bible study and worship songs followed by bed.
